Welcome! My name is Emily McDermott and I am a wife, mother of two boys, and simplicity seeker. I want to cut through the noise and the “stuff” of everyday life to live mindfully, intentionally, and in a way that reflects my priorities and values.

I first learned about minimalism, intentional living, and simplifying back in 2014 when I read an interview with Leo Babauta of Zen Habits and read Everything That Remains by The Minimalists. You can read more about the beginning of my journey here. Over the course of the last ten years, I’ve removed the excess from my life to focus on what is most important to me. This includes decluttering my home, minimizing my commitments, and finding ways to simplify my daily habits and routines.
My weekly podcast, Moms Overcoming Overwhelm, helps moms declutter their homes, heads, and heart. I offer in-person decluttering and organizing services in Northern Virginia to help walk you through how to declutter your home step-by-step. I love speaking to other moms about living abundantly with less. Finally, I offer custom poem writing services! Simple does not always mean easy, so let’s figure it out together!
One of the most impactful things I’ve learned on my minimalist journey is the important of mindset when it comes to clutter and letting go. My free workbook 5 Mindset Shifts To Help You Let Go of Clutter will help you uncover where you’re feeling stuck so you can start to live with less overwhelm and more joy!
